Responder Collective was created by co-founders Heather Ames and Michael Fishman who also founded The Safe Space Collective.
Through their work building a mental wellness community, they recognized the unique challenges First Responders face and the lack of dedicated spaces designed specifically for them. This realization led to the creation of Responder Collective—a supportive community where First Responders can find connection, access to resources, and receive support from others who understand life on the front lines.
At Responder Collective, the goal is to create a trusted environment where those who spend their careers responding to emergencies and protecting others can focus on their own well-being. First Responders often carry an immense mental and emotional load, yet many lack spaces where they feel comfortable opening up and connecting with people who truly understand their experiences.
Responder Collective was designed to bridge that gap by offering a community built specifically for police officers, firefighters, EMS professionals, dispatchers, and other emergency personnel. Through connection, shared experiences, supportive conversations, and access to helpful resources, the platform aims to strengthen resilience and remind responders that they are not alone.
By creating this dedicated space, Heather and Michael hope to shift the culture around mental wellness in the First Responder community, encouraging connection, support, and strength through community.
